Paul HinzmanIllinois District Youth Director
Thursday Night
Paul Hinzman has been in youth ministry since January 1995, serving churches in Morton, IL; Indianapolis, IN; and Normal, IL. He began his ministry assignment as youth pastor at Normal First Assembly on October 1, 2004. Rev. Hinzman was ordained in 2006 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Evangel University. He serves as a member of the NCU Board of Regents.
Don’t let this serious preacher bamboozle you, in the 1980’s Paul was the definition of a nerd (def. single-minded enthusiast: somebody who is considered to be excessively interested in a subject or activity that is regarded as too technical or scientific). Yup, Paul was a single-minded enthusiast who became a master of the Rubik’s Cube! He could right the puzzle in a matter of seconds, gaining him the nickname, “Quick Cube." His nerdiness didn’t stop with his Rubik’s Cube mastery; he could also squash anyone in a video game--primarily the games Pong and Frogger. Oh yeah, Paul was the envy of all docksider-shoe, argyle-sweater-wearing teenage boys. The 1980’s also allowed for Paul to refine his stamp collecting hobby. He was most proud of his vast anthology of Lawrence Welk & Six Million Dollar Man stamps (which he still proudly displays in his office today). Paul is a testimony to all you nerds out there that want to become a current day icon. He made the transition and look at him now!

Curt CookWilsons Creek Campus Pastor – Springfield, MO
Friday Morning
From 1988 to 2002, Curt Cook served as Associate Pastor at churches in Kansas and Florida. He was the senior pastor of First Assembly of God in Normal, Illinois from 2002 until coming to James River Assembly in February 2007. He currently serves James River Assembly as the Wilsons Creek Campus Pastor. Curt loves the word of God and has a passion to see people come to Christ. Curt is a 1989 North Central graduate and his wife, Deb, is also an NCU graduate. They have three teenage boys and reside in Springfield, MO.
In the 1980’s, Curt sported a fashionable perm-mullet. This trendy hairdo is business up front with a permed party in the back. His stylish hair blended well with his signature Zubaz sweat-pants. Oh yeah, Curt worked the MC Hammer look very well. Just ask all the past employees at the Roller Gardens roller staking rink where he strutted his game every Saturday night.

While blaring music from Sandy Patty, DeGarmo & Key, Striper and Petra on his oversized boom-box, Curt could often be seen roller skating around Minneapolis, drawing attention to his perm-mullet & his animal print Zubaz. Throughout the 1980’s, Curt had a unique talent that he would use to attract large crowds (mostly women) when he performed. This talent fell within the ‘stupid human tricks’ category and perhaps, just maybe, for a quarter, Curt will dust off the abilities of yester-year and dazzle us with this 1980’s forte at College Days 2010.
Note: due to follicle gravity, he will not be able to present his signature perm-mullet!
